Place-mats!

Jan 10 - Jan 11's project is finished!  This time it was place-mats.  They have a lace edge and a nice knit center.  They are 100% acrylic so they will be easy to wash and they were fun and fast to make.  I am really looking forward to starting the next project because it is going to be a cable knit scarf.  I have done a tiny bit of cable work but nothing too serious.  This project is going to be quite an endeavor.  I bought some beautiful colorway yarn and I can't wait to show everyone!

First Calender Project Complete

I have finished the 1st project in my calendar!  Not only that, but its been posted on Etsy!  So the basket was kind of a fun project.  It was really fast and fun to make.  In the process of making it the cat found a ball of yarn that I had wound in order to keep 3 strands at all times.  the cat stole it and chased it around the couch and livingroom for a long time.  It was so entertaining though so I let her go til she got bored and then rewound it.

Not only did I finish the basket, but I have officially opened my Etsy store!  I posted the basket and it will be $8.00 and i'm really excited to see if I get any hits, or orders on my basket.  I think I will have to post more before the store really gets moving though.

In other news, I have started the next project in the calender.  It is a place-mat I will be making it with a really nice deep red yarn and make a few so I can sell those next.  I ordered a really pretty yarn on Lionbrand but it hasn't been shipped yet so I'm a little bummed.  I hope I get it before I finish the place-mats.

Begin the New Year with a Scarf

So as I said earlier I was going to do the knit a day calendar.  Change of plans.  I wanted to make my roommies last minute xmas gifts.  I made them my classic scarf  its a k2p2 scarf across 20 stitches on super bug needles.  It takes 1 skein of lion brand homespun and its really soft and looks almost fancy.  Plus because the needles are so big it takes almost no time at all.  I made one green and the other purple.

However I had to pause the Glittens and come back to them so they are finished in the fingers but not in the mitten flap and only on the right hand.  As soon as the purple scarf is done then I'll get back to the glitten.

Lastly, the Knit a Day calendar opened with an afghan where 30 squares were then sewn together.  I'm not really feeling it, but I think I'll make one square as a dish cloth for our kitchen with some junky yarn my sister gave me from one of her final projects ages ago.
